• Created in 1980 in response to player’s desire for more difficulty in Asteroids
• Hyperspace now replaced with a shield system
• Asteroids now rotate, and look out for the new “killer satellite” enemy!

In Asteroids Deluxe, players pilot a spaceship battling to destroy asteroids, flying saucers and enemy ships or "death stars" (shaped like clusters of triangles). When hit, the asteroids and death stars break into progressively smaller, and more challenging to hit, pieces. Players can put up an octagon-shaped "shield" to temporarily protect their spaceship. However, this shield wears out with use.
